is to connect and empower Turkish construction professionals residing or working in Southern California by fostering meaningful professional relationships, sharing industry knowledge base, ideas, and creating opportunities for growth.
Through collaboration, education, information, and networking, we strive to elevate the awareness to the US industry standards and best practices. We emphasize support for Turkish construction professionals, including career advancement, business referrals, and build a stronger and more unified Turkish construction community.
Tolga Yaprak
Tolga Yaprak, is a civil engineer with 25yr professional experience and is currently practicing as the founder and the principal engineer at TY Engineering And Design focusing on providing structural engineering, design and consulting services to its private and public clients.
Tolga graduated from the School of Civil Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in 1994, before moving to California to attend the School of Civil Engineering at University of Southern California (USC) in 1996.
After more than 10 years of professional experience at two major structural engineering firms in Los Angeles and 6 years of post-graduate academic experience at the University of Southern California, he established TY Engineering And Design in 2010, to continue providing structural engineering and consulting services to the construction industry in Southern California as a private engineering firm.
Tolga Yaprak has been living in Southern California since 1996 and has served as a board member for the Los Angeles Turkish American Association (LATAA) between 2006-2009 and for the Turkish American Association of Southern California between 2009-2010. He is also the co-founder of the Turkish Construction Professionals of Southern California (TCP-CA) since 2010.
Mahmut Ekenel
Mahmut Ekenel is a licensed professional civil engineer and currently works as Certification and Conformity Assessment Engineer at American Concrete Institute (ACI). He joined ACI in 2023 after working as Senior Engineer at International Code Council (ICC) for almost 18 years. His expertise includes building codes and regulations, building code compliance, composite materials in construction, and strengthening of concrete structures. He received his Ph.D. from Missouri S&T University in 2004, where he also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher in 2005. He is a licensed professional civil engineer in the States of California, Ohio, and Michigan.
Mahmut Ekenel has been living in the USA since 1999, and Southern California since 2005. He served as board member at Los Angeles Turkish American Association (LATAA) between 2009 and 2012. He has been an active volunteer within Turkish Community of Los Angeles and Orange County. He is also the co-founder of the Turkish Construction Professionals of Southern California (TCP-CA) since 2011.
